Church of the Transfiguration, along with Our Lady of Grace Church, is one of the two churches which serves “The Catholic Community of Castro Valley”.
Transfiguration Parish is under the pastoral care of the Conventual Franciscans, a community of lesser brothers (friars) and have been embraced by the people of this parish. The friars, inspired by St. Francis our founder, are called to live the Gospel life of our Lord, Jesus Christ, preaching the Gospel to all but especially the poor and the excluded. For over 800 years, the friars have witnessed devotion to our Blessed Mother, Queen of Heaven and Earth. We are blessed to minister in a parish, Church of the Transfiguration, dedicated to her honor.
Welcome!

Franciscan Jubilee Year
During the Jubilee (January 10, 2026 to January 10, 2027) the Apostolic Penitentiary, by the will of the Holy Father, grant a Plenary Indulgence under the usual conditions, sacramental confession, Holy Communion, and prayer for the intentions of the Holy Father. This indulgence may also be offered for the Souls in Purgatory.
The indulgence is granted to members of the Franciscan Family, and all the faithful who take part in the Jubilee by visiting a Franciscan church or any place connected to St. Francis anywhere in the world by spending time in prayer or reflection, and praying for charity, harmony, and peace among peoples.
Church of the Transfiguration is one these pilgrimage sites.
The prayers conclude with the Our Father, the Creed, and invocations to the Blessed Virgin Mary, St. Francis of Assisi, St. Clare, and all the Saints of the Franciscan Family.
